DATA TREE LAUNCHES DATA TREE FOR THE DESKTOP APPLICATION

SAN DIEGO, California, May 1, 2001 - Data Tree customers can access document images more easily and with greater control and flexibility than ever before with Data Tree for the Desktop, our new client-server application, now rolling out in designated markets. Its release marks the retirement of Titlescape®, which for years has been Data Tree`s mainstay application.

"This new application employs true client-server architecture," said Ron Free, Vice President of Sales and Operations for Data Tree. "That means a lot to our customers, like tighter security and much more user flexibility." The architecture also allows Data Tree to "push" or deliver updates to customers desktops automatically, saving the time and expense of customers having to manually upgrade to newer versions.

Data Tree for the Desktop was designed not only to streamline access to document images, but to ensure customer confidence with an extremely user-friendly screen display. "It takes on the look and feel of e-mail and scheduling software, which should appear familiar to most of our customers," said Mark Werner, Director of Product Development.

Workflow features of the software include the ability to share electronic files over an office production network, saving researchers the inconvenience of copying and faxing countless times. Users can also better organize documents by having the ability to view them as thumbnail images, prior to downloading and printing them. Data Tree for the Desktop users can also customize the product’s functionality to match their systems and processes, and with special software, integrate it with automated title plant systems for even more efficiency.

Data Tree is introducing Data Tree for the Desktop according to a strategically conceived roll-out schedule to ensure customers are comfortable with the transition from Titlescape and with their level of proficiency with the new software.
